FLORIDA AUDUBON PRINTS
 John James Audubon (1785-1854) visited Florida 3 times in between the years 1831 and 1832. He stayed in St. Augustine and at Bullow Plantation; visited Cape Sable, Sandy Key, Indian Key, the Dry Tortugas and Key West. He traveled the St. Johns river from the mouth to Spring Garden.
From these visits he produced some 52 drawings of birds that were native to Florida and seasonal visitors. Among these are many of his most memorable and collectible pieces.
We offer ORIGINAL Audubon First Edition Octavo prints. Lithographed by Bowen in Philadelphia in 1840-44 these were then hand colored under the supervision of Audubon. This is the only edition of Audubon's work in Octavo size that was strictly hand colored.
Many of the birds he drew while in Florida are found on Amelia Island. Look out your window and you may see a Ground Dove (Audubon octavo #283) perched on a nearby bush. Drive Atlantic Avenue and as you cross Egan's creek you may see beautiful Roseate Spoonbills (Audubon octavo #362).
These prints are all in excellent condition, highly collectible, and many of them come with the original descriptive pages from the series.
